Community & charity

Freemasons Queensland supports community fundraising through lodges and its charity, Hand Heart Pocket, and also maintains a separate fund for short‑term help in exceptional circumstances. [2](https://uglq.org.au/fundraising/lodges-in-action/)

  • Local initiatives: lodges back a wide range of nonprofit and community activities. [2](https://uglq.org.au/fundraising/lodges-in-action/)
  • Working together: lodge donations are often supported by Hand Heart Pocket. [2](https://uglq.org.au/fundraising/lodges-in-action/)
  • Everyone can help: you don’t have to be a Freemason to support the charity. [2](https://uglq.org.au/fundraising/lodges-in-action/)

Our history

Camp Hill Lodge began after discussions in 1945 about forming a new lodge; it was consecrated on 9 November 1946. Early records for December 1946 show 38 members. [1](https://uglq.org.au/lodges/south-brisbane-masonic-hall/camp-hill-no-388/)

The lodge purchased land in 1947 at the Belmont Tram Terminus in Camp Hill, later resold, and the lodge continues to meet at Stones Corner with members from across Brisbane. [1](https://uglq.org.au/lodges/south-brisbane-masonic-hall/camp-hill-no-388/)
